FOOD CHAIN PETITIONS

HEAR US will set up biweekly petitions calling attention to house fires where families' lives have been lost to get the attention of the mayor or appropriate elected official (if the fire occurs in a rural area). Petitions are sent by Change.org as emails to the recipient.

Diane Nilan, HEAR US founder and president, and a Change.org blogger on the Poverty in America section, will set up these petitions and occasionally blog about it, will communicate with the targeted elected official, and may, if feasible, visit the town/area where the fires occur.

Information about the fires is received from the US Fire Marshall's link. Not all the families are homeless or living in poverty. HEAR US will mention those issues if appropriate.
